I haven’t seen the ocean since I was eight; after mother died father built a wall around the castle, separating the sea kingdom from its sea. I understand why father did it, he didn't want the waves to grab me like they did mother.
Yet some days I long for the water, to soak my feet it’s the salt filled liquid and feel the brisk air rush through my hair as the waves collided with the shore. The ocean was my favorite place, it was where I met my only friend. Although he never told me his name we were extremely close, always playing till dusk, writing letters; He was the one who made me see the ocean as a beautiful creature and not a monster which was until mother died. I haven’t seen him since.
He didn't live in the village and father even sent people out to other kingdoms to find him but they all came back empty handed. At some point I started thinking that maybe he was a sea prince, sent to find his princess. It was just a thought though, sea princes didn't really exist.
I called the boy little raven because he had raven black hair and eyes to match, his skin was pale, and he was thin. Every boy in the kingdom that matched his description was brought to me, but none resembled him in the slightest. That is until I saw the man with raven black hair and eyes to match.
